SNMP Community name with special characters

    Hey,

I have several devices with SNMP Community names that contain special characters such as "@" and "!". When I try polling them with Zabbix, it does not work.

When I use snmpwalk, I can get over this by putting quotes around the community name, or by escaping the special characters with "\". So for example: S\@et4546d\$1. Unfortunately this does not work in Zabbix.

Is there any way to use these community names in Zabbix, or is this just unsupported?

What is the error you see on the item? Anything in the logs?
I don't think special character is the issue here. I can confirm @ works within zabbix. Not sure about !. Try escaping if it is the cause

It's a simple communication error - "Timeout while connecting to x.x.x.x:161". I am certain it's a community name issue because when I add a community name without special characters it works.

As for escaping, how is it done in Zabbix? I tried "\" but it does not seem to work.

BTW: I am putting the community name as a macro ({$SNMP_COMMUNITY})
