Zabbix Agent 2 (7.2.3) does not start automatically after a restart

    Hello,

It happens from time to time that a Windows Server fails to start the Zabbix Agent 2 after a reboot.
I know this problem from several installations in the past and have started to delay the start of the service.
Last week I upgraded all systems to the new 7.2.3 Agent2 and have noticed more and more that the agents fail to start after a reboot.
Are you familiar with this behaviour and might have an idea?

    Zabbix Server: 7.09

    Thanks in Advance
    Daniel

    Hello

I've been encountering devices where the agent doesn't start for quite some time now. I think this happens a lot on clients with high startup loads or poor specs.

I gave up on finding the cause early on and set the recovery options in the service properties.

    - First error: Restart the service
    - Next error: Restart the service
    - Subsequent errors: Restart the service

Check [Enable operation when stopped due to an error]

It's a bit of a hassle to have to reset the settings every time I reinstall the agent for an upgrade or something.

      Hi, thanks for the reply.
It's good to read that I'm not the only one with this problem.

I have added a line to my deployment script to add additional service parameters.
      sc.exe failure "Zabbix Agent 2" reset= 86400 actions= restart/60000/restart/60000/""/0

The update Process is currently running throug all our Servers.

We will see if this problem does not occur in the future.

        Unfortunately this didn't work.
Our terminal servers are restarted at night and here the Zabbix Agent failed to start on 4 devices - despite the service being automatically restarted.
I think I'll have to look for a scheduled task with a delay of a few minutes after a restart.

I'm sorry that the problem was not resolved.

By the way, my copilot says the command line to get the settings we expect is

sc failureflag "Zabbix Agent 2" 1
          sc failure "Zabbix Agent 2" actions= restart/60000 reset= 0

That's what it says. After initializing and testing Agent2 on my device, this seemed correct.

I hope this will be helpful to you.

I am currently still rolling out the scheduled task after a reboot. At the moment I have to restart the Zabbix Agent 2 service on 1-2 systems every morning (which for some reason have restarted during the night).

Today I noticed the following on 2 systems.
I start the service administration, start the service and after 5 seconds I get an error that the service could not be started.
When I then restart the service, it works.

I have seen this several times after the update (also before, but the problem is increasing now), but had previously assumed it was due to the updated .conf file and changes to the old file. After replacing the old file, the service always started -> However, a comparison of the files in Notepad++ showed that they are identical (the configuration files are located in (C:\Program Files\Zabbix Agent 2\zabbix_agent2.d).
Since it works without swapping the files, I ask myself... what is the reason for the service having startup problems?

I was able to observe this in the log of a server. Presumably this solves the problem.
