    manage editing templates long term

    Hello

We have a number of default Zabbix templates for which we want to add triggers.
What is the best way to manage that long term, taking into account upgrades, etc.
I noted after the latest upgrade from 6.0 to 7.2 that there were a mix of templates that were never removed from older versions (even v4 or v5 perhaps) that were superceded by newer templates.

I was not keen on copying templates, editing and using those, as i noted that they also get out of date or don't then get new features perhaps.

would love some assistance if possible.

All the template management is a bit pain in backside..
I think, if add items/triggers to OOB template, those will be preserved while applying upgrades. If you change existing one, it will be overwritten, when you apply update (matchin uuid-s for items/triggers etc).
I just clone OOB tempalte for usage, so original could be upgraded if needed and then new things can be transfered to other templates... Still not a very good solution...

      Thanks for the reply, cyber.
I used to clone the templates but then i had templates that seemed out of date across versions or the newer template had been renamed by zabbix (i think it was Linux by SNMP?), and that confused the issue.
It would be good if i could create a template with triggers but no items, which referenced items in other templates.
I think i might clone the OOB template as a way to keep a copy of the original and edit the OOB template for use, rather than clone the OOB template and use the clone.

        Hello,

Do you know when Zabbix has a roadmap for creating templates for Fujitsu 1FINITY L100?
If they won't do upcoming weeks, could you please help how to create this template including triggers and graphs in Zabbix?

        Thanks,
        Steven

          Hi Steven,

I suggest you start a new thread for your enquiry. You will probably get more hits or info from the community.
However, there may be a MIB available from Fujitsu that woudl allow you to get the relevant OIDs.

see this link, which may give you a refrence point, at least
