current portstatus dashboarding
Hi All,
I am planning to use Zabbix in my new position, as this company might not use the correct tools to do it the simplest way.
So can you help me out by directing me to knowledge to achieve the following in Zabbix;
For less skilled Network engineers, I would like to display some of our switches in a more graphical way;
- Switch ports should be shown with up-to-date key configuration values and statuses like:
Access Vlan#, Up/down status, error disabled , admin disabled, description from switch config
- It should give them a quick dashboard with near realtime status of the ports they might need to locate and connect new equipment to.
Without referencing pre-sent config overviews, and with adequate feedback on the actions they did.
- Color coded squares with the port number could be a start.
Hover-over balloons with more detailed data could be added, but a click to an other page could also work.
- If possible the Mac address of the connected device could be shown, to aid feedback
I know the data is all in the switch running config file , and the current port status, etc, but It would surprise me if that isn't available through SNMP too.
and I am not 24/7 available to discus port availability for an engineer that needs to just hookup a device, without time to do change requests and wait to international staff.
So has anyone seen such an application of the Zabbix abilities, and can direct me to examples and or templates ?
( my previous zabbix knowledge has fainted a bit, as I have not used it for 5 years, and then detecting outages and alarming was the main goal )
( security concerns are not part of this request, these are covered in an other way )
