Zabbix Email notification with Office365 Problem

    Hello guys,

My Zabbix Version is 3.2.4 and I am running Zabbix on Centos 7. Currently I am trying to make Zabbix to send alerts to my personal email from a office365 mail. But, unfurtunately it is not working. It works just fine using Gmail.

The Error i got in /var/log/zabbix is :

Login denied: NSS: client certificate not found (nickname not specified)

My configration in Admin/Media Types/Email is the following:

    SMTP server - smtp.office365.com
    SMTP server port - 587
    SMTP helo - companyname.com
    SMTP email - [email protected]
    Connection security - STARTTLS
    SSL verify peer - unchecked
    SSL verify host - unchecked
    Authentication - Normal
    Username - Myusername
    Password - Mypassword

Alerts and User configuration is ok, since I am able to receive emails for problem when using Gmail.. I only change the SMTP server, SMTP email and user/pass to my Gmail acc and it is working.

Am I doing something wrong or there is a problem between Zabbix and office365?

    Best regards and Thanks!!

Works for me with the same settings.

Make sure your username is [email protected]

      Hello guys,

I found the problem. It was very stupid - turns out that the mailbox from office365 that i configured to send emails for problems doesn't have a license.

      Thanks for the reply onallion.

      Please close the thread.

      Best regards and Thanks!

I had the same issue and also with a silly fix... The account we use to send the emails had the password changed on the last month, however, as we didn't had any alarm, we also didn't notice any problem.

The thing is we forgot to update the password on Zabbix and as you can see, there is nothing mentioning password for this issue. But it works fine now

I have the same exact setup, but I am getting this error.

            Login denied: error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol

I know the account is good because I use it every day.

I ended up using Amazon SES since I couldn't get Office 365 to work. I used the SMTP provided by Amazon SES, port 465, SSL/TLS. The 2 SSL boxes are unchecked. Add email accounts that can send and recieve the Zabbix alerts into the Identity Management verified email address list. Once this was done, the emails started flowing.

I just added a patch to ZBXNEXT-3367. It should add the necessary support for AUTH LOGIN that's required to use Office 365.

Hopefully this feature will make it into the general release of all supported versions of Zabbix. Hosted Exchange is only growing in scope, and especially with enterprise clients that do not, or cannot, use public SMTP like Gmail it becomes even more of an important factor.
