SNMP Questions

Hello all,

I am setting up my Synology NAS to be monitored by Zabbix using SNMP. I am hoping someone can clear up a few things for me.

The OID on my DS718+ is listed as iso.3.6.1.4.1.8072.3.2.10. I am using the SNMP v3 template in the community templates section. I am noticing OIDs such as .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.10.1.5.1 in the template. Does this mean I need to change the template to match the OID I listed from my DS718+? Do I just use the defaults? I did an SNMP walk of the NAS, so I have the output. How do I read this?

That 2021.10.5.1 is part of UCD-SNMP-MIB, one of many that your device is supporting (https://kb.synology.com/en-uk/DG/Syn...on_MIB_Guide/2)
iso.3.6.1.4.1.8072.3.2.10 is part of another MIB... https://oidref.com/1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.3.2.10 (specific OID defines yur system as "linux"...)

It does not mean, that you have to change everything.. as both mentioned are not proprietary ones, they should work for for your device without much issues...
You have a walk, you should see what OIDs are returning values.. use mib database(s) to identify the meanings...

For querying, ie SNMP polling you do not need any MIB file anywhere, until you use numeric OID-s. With textual OIDs, there was some needs to install those MIB-s, but I think it is just extra fuss anyway...
