    Check email notification is orking

    Hi,
I have a Zabbix server ver.6.0 with email notifications and I use Gmail.
Now I wanted to activate a check on the sending of notifications, that is if Zabbix cannot reach the Gmail server it should generate an error that remains in Problems until it is manually deleted.
I searched among the various items and triggers but I found nothing.
Is it possible to have a check of this kind by pursuing other paths?
I tried with the icmpping key but it only gives me the reachability of the server and I don't want to use ping

    Thanks a lot

Do you want to check GMail's SMTP TCP port? It's usually 465 (for SSL) and 587 (for TLS).
When you say you want to check if "Zabbix cannot reach the GMail server", if not ping, what do you mean?

I had thought of using this item but it still asks me for username and password... my interest was to know if there was an automatic alert in Zabbix on Media Types... let me explain... during the configuration of Media Types -> Email there is the possibility of testing the configuration and you have a notification of success or error so it already has a check that however is not passed to the Errors list. In this way you would have an alert on the dashboard that is automatically pulled out without creating an item and a trigger

Ping is very invasive even if you use a test time of a few minutes and, as happened to me, if you exceed a certain threshold of pings sent by Zabbix to the devices an alert arrives

      Thanks

An Action with type of calculation "And", and an first condition that checks connectivity before an second condition that send Mail may do the job.

Thanks to all for your answers.
In the end I solved it using net.tcp.service from the Simple Check item. Too bad Zabbix doesn't have an internal check on media types, at least in version 6.0
