Can't delete a hostgroup because something in table hgset is referencing it. Is it safe to just delete that reference as well?

If you do everything properly, then that error should not appear.. (using API or UI). How do you delete that hostgroup?
hgset ang ugset is somehow related to user permissions(hg - host group, ug - user group).. So just deleting something can have consequences... But I dont have exact knowledge, how those work ... might be ok also..

I have actually the same problem as you have with 2 host groups. I cannot delete them, because there's hgsetid referencing to host group via hgset_group table. I've check all constraints to either hgsetid or groupid, however there's nothing else connected to it, except to the group itself.

I've used only UI and API calls to create/delete host groups (via saltstack), so I'm thinking whether this could be some kind of bug, so far not sure how to reproduce it or what causes it.

Did you find out what hgset is for? There's one hash stored inside.
