Major upgrade - what to upgrade first?

We are long overdue for a Zabbix upgrade and don't meet all the prerequisites for Zabbix 7.2, so I need some advice on the upgrade sequence to avoid data loss.

We're running on Ubuntu 18.04.6 and I would like to upgrade to 24.04 LTS.
The database is MySQL 8.0.27. Lowest supported release is 8.0.30.
Apache is 2.4.29 and it seems I just need to upgrade to the latest release.
PHP is 7.2 and lowest supported release is 8.0. IIRC, there can be problems with moving older applications to 8.0.

Should I, for example, upgrade Zabbix to 6.0.x for PHP 7.2 and 8.0 support, then upgrade PHP to 8.0 before continuing to upgrade Zabbix ?

    Hi,

Well, if you system is an VM I would make a copy off it. Upgrade the OS first, upgrade MySQL and PHP, if its not upgraded within the OS upgrade path, then upgrade Zabbix and see where it ends.
The other way is to start from scratch with the OS, install your current version of Zabbix, backup your old zabbix data and restore it on you new system and than upgrade zabbix to its latest version.

To avoid data loss, backup you data

    Regards
