How does zabbix send email?

My linux server can't send email with mail command. But zabbix sends me email fine. Does zabbix use something else?

Because I'm about to install postfix to fix mail command and I wonder if something goes wrong, will I be breaking zabbix emails?

I don't think anything will go wrong

You are obviously using an external mail provider like google to send your alerts from zabbix that is why that part works.
But you can also install your own mail server and then incorporate it into zabbix to send mails directly from it

Zabbix will use whatever you give it.

If you specify "localhost", it will use Postfix, but I don't see why you would do that.
