    Maintenance periods

I'm having an issue understanding the date / time values in the "Active since" and "Active till" portion within the Maintenance period.

As a test, I have configured a Maintenance Period for a future date of year 2020. The exact values are:
    Active on 2020 year - January 1st.
    Active till 2020 year - February 1st.

Question: When I click on the Period tab, why I am given an option to create a date that is completely different than the parent Maintenance period?

My actual Period configuration for the parent Maintenance Period is set for 2017 - May 12th (today's date) and it'd duration is 6 hours (One time only.)

Question: I have created a Maintenance Period for a future date, and the actual period for today's date. Why am I not receiving alerts of downtime if the actual parent Maintenance Period is in the future and it's not active?

Question: What's the actual purpose of the Maintenance Period date / time if the actual child Period option is what seems to matter?

This is confusing. I hope someone can shed some light on the differences of the two.

      1. We did it specially. So periods from first tab and "Periods" tab should be overlapped. For example, you know that you have maintenance each Friday for 2 hours during 3 month.
      2. Which alerts? Did you seen Host status as "In maintenance"?
      3. Both matter
