zabbix-agent2 is not working normally via vpn tunnel ip

    Hi, good afternoon,

    I have an issue with zabbix-agent 2 v 6.0.x
for Windows clients that are working by OpenVPN tunnel, I got issues with losing pings if zabbix-agent2 connected to the server via vpn tunnel.
If I change to public ip it's working fine and pings are working good.
Change to vpn ip it's start to losing icmp pings
If I stop zabbix-agent2 service ping is working normally also.

    Server Side:
    Zabbix 6.0.36
    Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS

    Clients side:
    Client: Zabbix agent 2 v6.0.40
OS: Windows Server 2019 and 2022
    Template: Windows by Zabbix agent

Just for clarification, you use an active agent ?

Looking at your server and agent version I would first suggest upgrading to the latest Zabbix LTS version if possible off course. Agents older than 6.2.x do not send active health checks, seehttps://www.zabbix.com/documentation/7.2/en/manual/web_interface/frontend_sections/data_collection/hosts?hl=Agent%2Cstatus

If you got two seperate locations where servers are located I would suggest putting a Zabbix proxy at that location. That way monitoring information can be cached and send periodically to the server.

You could also perform a traceroute from the client to the server to see how much time it takes to get there.

    Regards

I did few months before, I've updated the zabbix-aggent2 v7 lts and it's not helped and reverted it back, but I will try to update again.
But the server side I cannot upgrade now for sure to the latest lts version
      pings are fine, around 10ms

Nah, I've installed the 7.0.13 agent, tried to change from a public IP to a VPN IP, and I got the same issue again.
