Pulling MSSQL Data using the plugin

I've spent 2 days on this and installed/uninstalled close to 30 times and Zabbix just keeps breaking.

I'll explain the steps I've been using

    - I've installed agent2 on the server.
    - I've already configured the host in Zabbix so it pulls metrics from the server like CPU, memory and disk space.
    - I install the plugin for MSSQL.
    - I modify the conf file of the agent to it points to the correct directory where the plugin conf file lives.
    - The plugin conf file is correct so I don't make any changes to it.
    - I restart the Zabbix service and it fails to start.

And from this bit its a mixture of uninstalling the plugin then restarting the service, that sometimes works so it at least starts again.
If that doesn't work I reboot the server, that worked almost every time.
If its still failing uninstalling the agent and reinstalling it sometimes works.
Just now rebooting didn't work and despite me uninstalling the agent I couldn't installed it because there were still remnants of it present on the server so I had to delete registries and folders manually followed by a reboot because the service was stilling showing up in services.msc

I've got the macros set up in the Zabbix GUI but that doesn't even make a difference because as soon as I restart the service everything breaks.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

What does the agent log file say? It is usually somewhere where you installed the agent.

The logs show minimal information, nothing related to the services failing.

How do I increase the log level on a windows server? I did google this but I couldn't find an answer, a people respond with making the change but not how to do so.

"Services", in plural? We are talking about just this one service, Zabbix agent 2, right?

Are you saying that in the agent log file you only see the agent startup messages but nothing about it stopping or terminating?

DebugLevel=4 (or 5) can be set in the agent configuration file and then restart the agent, but it takes some patience to interpret the output if/when there is lots of output.

Sorry the "service" for Zabbix Agent 2!

So I just added: "DebugLevel=4" to the conf file and went to restart services and I get the following error:

"Windows could not start the Zabbix Agent 2 service on local computer."
"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

Note that I still haven't installed the plugin.

And now it just doesn't start.

You didn't say anything about the agent log file contents. What is found there?
