    Upgrade MariaDB of Zabbix 3.0.9

    Hello,

I am trying to improve the performance of the database used by Zabbix (I use
Zabbix version 3.0.9 on CentOS 7). One of the ideas is to update the database version from MariaDB 5.5.52 (the latest currently available on the official CentOS repos) to MariaDB 10 or MariaDB 10.1. Do you recommend it?
What is the best storage engine that could be used? InnoDB? XtraDB?

why do you want to improve it ?
what issues do you face ?

i have a server 3.2.6 with remote mariadb
zabbixdb is 52G and i have almost 300 hosts-

every search on zabbix server taks less then 1-2 seconds.

Well, I am in favour of any optimizations. The database is hosted on a virtual server and the maximum disk IOPS are not so much and I have a lot of items to monitor.

Whenever the database load is too big, I get a delay in the notifications and Zabbix agent unreachable alarms.

185 nvps doesn't look like a big problem. If you are not reaching IOPs limits, then DB is not your bottleneck. You should to check other performance metrics: Zabbix performance counters, IOPs metrics, CPU load, ...
Devops Monitoring Expert advice: Dockerize/automate/monitor all the things.
