    Recurring maintenance period configuration

    Hello community,

in my Zabbix 7.4 system I have a host which should only be monitored during week days between 8:30am-12:30pm. Outside this period it should be in maintenance mode with no data collection, no triggers, no alerting.

I have configured the following schedule:

I read the documentation at https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...al/maintenance. The description and behavior of "Active since", "Active till" and "Periods" confuses me. I would expect that the wrench icon next to my host to disappear during times that do not fall between those in the "Periods" definitions, yet Active since and Active till seems to indicate that my host will be in maintenance mode for the next 10 years (based on my settings as seen in the screenshot). Indeed, my host seems to be in maintenance even now at 10:35am.

Based on what I see the function of Active since + Active till overlaps that of Periods, where Active since + Active till overrides the settings in Periods. It seems to be two sets of conflicting settings.

How can I define my maintenance settings if I want data collection, triggers and alerting to happen only between Mon-Fri 8:30am-12:30pm and not have a wrench icon next to my host during this time?

    Thank you.

Active since and Active till are just dates, when to consider this maintenance definition... and yes you can have it for next 10 or more years...
It is the "periods" in maintenance, which define, when your wrench appears..

Overlapping on Fri-Sat night should be just fine...

Thank you cyber for clarifying it, I'll double-check my periods definitions. As far as I can tell they look correct and the result isn't what I expect. I can't dismiss the error being between the chair and the keyboard, I just can't spot it.

How does Zabbix timekeeping work: does it use local time or UTC?

IIRC data in DB is saved as UTC...

It may be but I am pretty sure it "uses" your real time zone. We have equipment that reboots at 0400 UTC regardless of DST, so we have to adjust the maint window in Zabbix twice a year to suit.

Thats fine, UTC does not use DST.. So if its config is based on UTC, then your TZ with DST has to adapt.
But I stand corrected, I left half of the answer out ... you still set your servers etc in your own TZ and all events are based on that... My own stuff is in 2 different TZ-s and you have to consider servers TZ to set maintenances etc...
