    Disk IO Parameter Clarification

    Hello,

Hoping someone would be so kind as to explain to me a couple of the basic values in vfs.dev.read/write. Types - sectors, operations, bytes. I'm setting up IO monitoring and want to make sure I understand the values I'm tracking.

Operation, I'm assuming this would be a single read/write event on a partition so reading a single file will result in an operation value of 1, reading that file twice will give an operation value of 2?

Sectors, is this the amount of disk sectors being accessed during an operation? E.g. file A is stored over 4 disk sectors, 1 read event on this file will result in sector value of 4?

Bytes, I'm assuming that this relates directly to the size of files on disk, so reading a 1MB file will result in a 1024 byte value?

    Apologies for the layman question.

    Thanks
Working...
