Use agent that is newer than server?

I'd like to start using this template for monitoring Nvidia server GPUs: https://www.zabbix.com/integrations/..._agent2_active

My server is 7.0 LTS, but the template says it requires 7.2 or higher. Can I deploy the 7.2 agent on the system and use the template on the 7.0 server? Or does the server also need to be 7.2+?

I figured I'd ask before developing the automation to deploy the agent and configs to the fleet.

To be compatible with Zabbix 7.0, Zabbix agent must not be older than version 1.4 and must not be newer than 7.0.

I am using 7.4 agents with 7.0 server and proxies and have not noticed any issue.

Are you using any templates that were built specifically in version 7.2+ like the Nvidia template?

Anyways, mouchyn it's probably worth the time to test it, if it doesn't work, just go back to the previous agent version.

nvidia plugin is built for agent 7.2+ your server has no knowledge of such items provided by that plugin.
With general items like cpu checks or ram or something that has been there since forever, you could easily use higher version agent... but with such specific things, built for higher agents only... your server will not tolerate...
