    Reset disabled trigger

    Hi,
I'd like to know if there is any way to "reset" a trigger ?

I mass added the template "Template ICMP Ping" to all my hosts but I forgot that some are behind a firewall that do not let pass ICMP protocol. I quickly removed the linked template from all hosts but the triggers are still there and can be seen from the dashboard. I'd really like to clear it from the dashboard.

They should clear in 30 minutes on their own I believe, however to clear this right away you can go to the hosts in Configuration, select all devices, click Mass Update. In the workflow it goes into, go to the Templates link, check link templates, enter all the ones you want to keep but also check the "Replace" and "Clear when Unlinking" check boxes and click Update. This should reapply templates and remove all prior data, warnings and alerts.

      Sounds good, didn't work...

I did as you said. Which mean :
      • I went to Configuration/Hosts.
      • Clicked "All checkboxes"
      • Mass Update
      • Template
      • Clicked Link Templates
      • Add template "Template OS Linux" and "Template App SSH Service"
      • Clicked check box "Replace" and "Clear when unlinking"
      • Pressed Update Button

I went back to Dashboard. Triggers "HOSTNAME is unavailable by ICMP" still there.

As a test, can you go to one of the hosts that you applied ICMP to, and edit the host. Then go to the templates tab for the host. Make sure to add the ICMP ping template to the host, click update. Then modify the host again, and go back to templates, and click unlink and clear for the ICMP Ping template.

If this works then do the mass update method from above to add, update and then clear and unlink ICMP Ping. This should hopefully forcefully clear the data.

Glad that worked. It seems that when you remove you need to unlink and clear or else it keeps it partially attached. It seems like a bug in some cases, but I think it's why they have an unlink and unlink and clear options.

Most important part about Unlink and clear is that this operation also removes history data which is fine in a case like this, when the template was added accidentally, but not recommended for prod items that have required history.

But you are right, Unlink simply unlinks the template from the host, leaving all entities on it, but without template linkage.
