Counting the number of problems open for a certain time with a widget

Hi,

I'd like some help with the creation of a widget that would count how many problems have been open for a certain/multiple periods of time.
Something similar to problems_by_severity, but instead of the severity it would be how long the problem has been opened for (1 day, 1 week, 1 month, etc...).

Would this be possible by modifying existing widgets ?
