    adding key resulting value to item description

    I have been trying to find a way to map an switch interface alias to its traffic item prototype. Seemingly simple:
    Incoming traffic ge/11- WonkyServer (Incoming traffic $1 ifAlias[$1])

    For a pictorial representation

    So far I have tried about a dozen mechanisms, with no progress. Has anybody found a way to do this?

    Hi ,
    are you using the Low Level Discovery to get the interface names? IMO your interface name should be {#IFNAME} or {#IFALIAS}, check this link:

      Alex-

      This is for an item prototype in a discovery template. I did try your suggestion, and it generated a similar result as the others:

      As entered in the discovery item prototype name: Incoming traffic on interface $1 {#IFALIAS}
      As appears in use: Incoming traffic on interface 1 {#IFALIAS}

      Zabbix version is 3.4.1
