get device mac address

Hi
Can zabbix get the mac address of a drive that it is comunicating / monitoring with .. so that if a faulty device is changed despite having the same ip it can be identfied, the would help for tracking / monitoring of all such devices.

Zabbix, like any other app, can't in any way figure out a remote MAC address. MAC addresses live in layer 2 of the OSI model while (assuming we're polling a remote system) live comfortably in layer 4. If your on the same switched network it's possible to figure it out, but zabbix doesn't provide any functionality to do so (as far as I know). You could always make a custom script to throw out some arpings and see what responds.
