    TODO list

Again and again, always asking the same questions : where can i have a look at the TODO list ????

I 've got many questions about Zabbix and like to avoid talking about thing already taken in account.

it will be nice too to have an overview of all the patches that have been integreted inside Zabbix [ and the version that support them ].

I saw a lot of post in all the different parts of the forums and it's getting more and more difficult to understand how the product get involved.

      Greetings,

At present, the only way to determine which patches have gone in, is to check for Alexei's posts, though that is by no means conclusive. Currently there is no outside access to the SVN repository, which is making it difficult for people who want to get involved in the development / improvement of the product. To make matters worse, the only people who are able to update, clarify, correct the documentation is the Alexei and Osimy, which is making it difficult for people to document BKM's outside of the forums. Finally, the wiki requires a manual sign up process which is keeping others from posting howtos and FAQs.

As I already mentioned in an earlier post, currently we are doing some network reorganisation (new network hardware/firewall/etc). Access to SVN will be restored shortly afterwards.

I'm still open to hear about good alternatives of DokuWiki!

Why not use trac (http://trac.edgewall.org/). It will give an integrated tools to manage the project with bug tracking, wiki, etc. It works with subversion, so you won't have a lot of work to intrage it with your system. Users will be able to submit bug, evolution, etc. And follow the resolution of their request.

For my part, we use dokuwiki in a daily basis for all of our documentation effort. It is really a simple and easy tools. But you need to define how you work for your namespace.

Is there something wrong with DocuWiki?

It seems to me the major functionality we're missing is self registration into the wiki or integrate the forum user database into the wiki.

Alexei, can't you enable one or the other of these features? I realize James was a little blunt and to the point, but I'd have to agree with him.

It feels like you're holding us back sometimes. I realize its unintentional, but help!

I enthusiastically add my voice for the Trac (http://trac.edgewall.org). As an exercise, do a Google search with "Trac" as search key. The sheer amount of projects using that software is astounding. Heck, even the competition (http://dev.zenoss.org/trac) is using it!

Along with a nice wiki, this would allow ZABBIX to have a powerful ticket-tracking system and give users a clear picture of where development is going (the Milestone and Timeline features are addictive). At work, we're using it to track all helpdesk requests, manage our codebase and internal documentation.

I feel a little bad because I was among those who suggested DokuWiki...I just didn't know better at the time . To make amends, if Alexei installs Trac, I pledge to personally convert the wiki pages from DokuWiki.

              Regards,

              Jonathan

dminstrel, if you're that passionate about it, it must be good...

I honestly have never used it, but I'm sold

Excuse me, "crap"?! Please be more polite or stay away of this forum if you don't like it.

We do not use some of Sourceforge services because of poor availability and lack of control. I hate to see SF SVN service down, compile farm down, etc. It happens quite often, believe me. I remember downtimes lasting several days!

I do like Sourceforge. Unfortunately it is not reliable enough.
