Sounds a bit strange but is it possible to get a trigger to start another item polling?
eg For a UPS, instead of polling every 60s for multiple items, if the UPS loses input power and fires a trigger eg input voltage = 0, other items could start to be recorded eg time on battery, time remaining on battery, % of battery left etc
Could be anything but I think it would be more efficient with polling ie just one poll going until an issue occurs, then multiple polling as opposed to multiple polling going on all the time?
