Viewing log files

Hi everybody,

I'm quite new to Zabbix.
I'm trying to use Zabbix to monitor and view log files from Linux and HPUX servers.
I created items with key log[myfile] as mentioned in the doc.

All i get is a "-" in the latest value and nothing in the "history" screen.
I already verified that zabbix account have access to the directory containing the log files and that the log files themselves have sufficient privileges.
It still doesn't show me anything.

I expected to see the content of these log files.

I'm running zabbix 1.1.5 on RHES3.
Is that function supported in this release ?
Dit I do something wrong ?

Well ...

It seems I'm the only one facing this problem ...

I really need to browse through some log files via Zabbix so if someone knows a way to do it, I would greatly appreciate !
I'll try to developp a script associated with a UserParameter to make it work ...

Yes I did.

My item is configured as following :
Description AS_EN1 Service log file
Type ZABBIX agent (active)
Key log[/en1ope01/kheops/logs/AS_EN1.server.jdb]
Type of information Log
Update interval 2

Directories Privileges are all set to 777 and log file is 666.

I'm runnig zabbix_server on a Linux Box (RHES3) and zabbix_agentd on HP-UX B.11.23 ia64.

I get a "-" in then "Last Check" and in "Last Value". That's all.

Does Hostname from zabbx_agentd.conf match host name of the host the item is linked to? Is Server parameter is set correctly as well?

YES !

You were right ! Hostname in zabbix_agentd conf file didn't match the name of the Host the item is attached to.

I've configured my Hosts to work with IP adress and with a logical name rather than the real hostname.
I did it that way in order to match the applicative configuration because we run several instances of the same application (seen as a "virtual host") on a unique server.
It's Ok for all my UserParameter items checks but It can't work with log files.

I'll have to find an another way to make it, I think
