    Web monitoring

    Hi,

I have a few questions regarding web monitoring/web checks:

    1. When creating web scenarios, should you add it to zabbix server/web or to the host that runs the site? Are there any differences?

I have configured the same web scenario (Check if website returns http 200) and added it to the host that runs the site and also to the zabbix server it self. The confusing part is that several times a day the response time goes up to 5-6s for the web check running on zabbix server and on the host it self it keeps an even curve below 1s.

    Zabbix server is located off-site.

    2. How does the web monitoring work regarding latest values for response time? Are the response time values polled frequently?

    Regards,
    Laszlo

    1. It is obvious that the response times will be below 1s when you monitor the site from the host where the site is located. Because it is going to check on the localhost.

In my case, I use a Zabbix server located somewhere in Ireland and let it do the web checks on the servers who are located elsewhere in the world.

    2. In your scenario you can define how often the checks should be executed by using the 'update interval'.
