    Multiple Networks

    Hello,

I'm planning to implement Zabbix to Monitor on some different networks, each network, have its on servers, switchs, routers, printers.....

I was wondering if is it possible to install a zabbix_server on each network (monitoring all the agents, switchs, routers....) and make a central Zabbix, fech data from all other zabbix_servers.

    Is this possible??

Since my english is not so good as I wish, i will try to draw, so it may bet easier for understanding what i want.

    Tkz in advance

This is a nice diagram. How did you do it? I like it.
Yes. According to the documentation it is possible. You will have to give a unique number to your servers in the server conf file. Thats all I know. I don't know how the servers talk to each other though.

      About the diagram:
I used M$ Visio, its a good tool to make any kind of diagrams.
I also extracted those images and imported to zabbix (now the maps looks great!), if you want, i can zip the images and upload it to somewhere else.

      About my question:
I looked at "Zabbix manual http://www.zabbix.com/downloads/ZABB...ual%20v1.4.pdf and at page 119 i found somethings about "Distributed monitoring" i think that this is what i want.
Well, tomorrow at work i will take a better look on this part to see if i can make it work.
If you or someone else have any tips/advices or more documments about this, i would love it.

      tkz!

At present, this is not possible, however, the next major version of Zabbix (1.4) will support this capability.

Please note that this feature was available for a short time in 1.1Alpha, but was removed just before 1.1Beta.

Now, having said that, it can kind of be done in a very round-about way. Instead of having multiple Zabbix servers, you can create a single Zabbix server, and multiple satellites. The satellites would query the data from the agents using zabbix_get, and send the data to a central Zabbix server using zabbix_send. The tricky part would be the scripting required on the satellite servers to keep the monitored item list up to date, though it is doable.

          Nice diagram!

Yes, the distiributed monitoring is part of 1.4. Even more, configuration of all ZABBIX servers (items, triggers, whetever) can be done either from Cenrtal Server or locally.
