That makes sense. There is a second global reg ex that only adds items whose startup type is Automatic or Automatic (Delayed). Maybe playing around with that will get you closer? Maybe not having the discovery rule create triggers for everything but still create items?

In my case of the Remote Desktop Server, there are 3 different dynamic services that get created when users login and get deleted when they log out. Even in a small environment of 20 users that's 60 items/triggers that get created and then become "not supported" a few hours later when the users log off. It makes quite a mess unless I filter it out.

And then there are the services Microsoft uses for deploying Windows Updates.. One minute they are manual, then they get set to automatic but not running and THEN, after a reboot and the updates are installed it goes BACK to manual again...

i don't think, these services currently are automatic. what i don't understand is why microsoft use automatic state for service that are not always running, they should be set to manual.

for sure in some case it's better to not import them

but like i say in the post i created this morning https://www.zabbix.com/forum/zabbix-...fault-template i think zabbix should be more flexible
i think that they have a great great tool with macro, and template doesn't use them enough.

The biggest reason I have seen for this is when Microsoft wants things to only run when the computer first starts up. For example, the BITS service is typically set to manual and not started. When Windows Updates need to be applied, this service gets set to Automatic. This is so that when the computer reboots, it can finish the job. Then, it gets set back to manual once it is done so it won't try to startup on the next reboot (unless there is something to do again).

          Hi,

I think I've understand the main case in this thread.
One qustion: When I edit the regular expression it is only for new added Windows system?

The existing system will still have the onced added services I doesn't want to monitor?

          Bye

I'm playing around with the regluar expression and for now I test a opt in expression to generate Triggers automaticly for wanted services.

            That's work fine.
