Interfaces Simple SNMPv2 Graph Scale Wrong

    Hi

Ive snmp'ed discovered some HP switches. 5412zl and some HP1950. All have a mixture of 100Mb, 1Gb and 10Gb ports.

I didn't consider a problem till I tried to show the bits sent and received. The scales are wrong. The 10Gb nics I know are sending data well over 1-2Gpbs sustained for the duration of time but they are showing in the graph as 15-20 Mbps.

I'm guessing that the numbers are correct just that the decimal point is in the wrong place?

Can I resolve the Template Simple SNMPV2 data or would I have to import proper mibs for the switches to show the correct scale?

    Thanks

    Tim

Its really strange, because all snmp traffic data are simple octet counters, it does not depend on iface speed. Zabbix just grabs octet count every n seconds, calculates the delta and divides by seconds to get speed.

Do you have multiplier by 8 on traffic items (received data is in octets, need to multiply by 8 to get bits)

      Thanks for your reply Kaspars

You made we retrace and google some more. I came across this

"since 3.4.0 there are two templates for SNMPv2 available:
Template Module Interfaces SNMPv2 with 64bit counters
Template Module Interfaces Simple SNMPv2 with 32bit counters"

I was using the simple SNMPv2. I changed my templates to the SNMPv2 and now I'm getting 10Gb reporting from my SAN ports.

      Brilliant.
