server shut down and alert

i installed server, and agent on a client server.
i see alerts and all ok.
now i shut down the server - why i don't get alert that server is down?
do i need to setup something for that?

Do you have a trigger or a template applied to the host that covers the server down scenario?

Also, what is your definition of alert. If a trigger fires it will appear in the dashboard. If you want to receive notification about the problem\event, you must setup an action.

Default template: Template Module ICMP Ping is a decent one to use to check if the server if online. However, in many networks ping is disabled so, you might need a more advanced test.

It depends on the network. Can 't we able to get any trigger if the server is down or who has shut down the server before rebooting the server?
