    VMware User

I want to create a user for monitoring my my VM's. The discovery process runs through VCenter. I am currently using the root user on my ESX hosts to collect data. The username and password is passing in plain text, and is logged in the Zabbix server log. Clearly this is not ideal. Where do I create the user (VCenter, ESXi hosts, at the OS level? I assume the user only neads read permissions. I have tried a couple different ways, but none have worked. Also, the username and password is set up as a macro. How do I get the changed macros to propagate to the hosts?

You have to create a read only user in vCenter. Highest level.

For configuring VMware Monitroing I highly recommend this documentation
(German, but maybe you can get some useful information out of it, or just translate it )
