    Monitoring Windows services

    Hi,

Can someone help me with configuring Zabbix to monitor windows services.

I'm trying to monitor if the print spooler has stopped or not.
    I'm using zabbix 1.1.6
    I made an Item:

    service_state[spoolsv]

    and a trigger:

    {services_t:service_state[spoolsv].last(0)}=0

Nothing happens when I stop te Print Spooler on the server.
Is there anyone else who had this problem and solved it??

    Thanks
    Stefaan

I found the solution for my problem.

    I made an Item:
    service_state[Spooler]

    Then I made a Trigger:
    {....:service_state[Spooler].last(0)}=6

I noticed on my server that when the service was running, zabbix gets "6" and when the service has stopped, zabbix gets "0" from te server.

I hope this explanation was usefull for someone, any other solutions for other problems are welcome

    Kind regards
    Stefaan

My apologies for resurrecting such an old thread, but I found this information useful and wanted to add a recommendation of my own.

Rather than checking for the service being "Stopped" (6), you would be better off checking to see if it is NOT "Started" (0). I have seen numerous times where a service could be stuck in another pending state other than "Started".

Modifying the example from above, this is how I setup the triggers:

      {....:service_state[Spooler].last(0)}#0

I hope someone finds this information useful and thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

        spooler CPU loads to 100%

hi guys, just one thing ...

is there a possibility to monitor if spoolsv is not using 100% of CPU ?

currently I have CPU util item & trigger set up and it's working, just wondering if I can monitor spoolsv for CPU load especially ...

it happens often on print server that spooler loads CPU to 100% and I need to restart the service ...

and in addition, can I set up this service somehow to restart automatically by itself after it's stuck or ?

        thanks a lot ...
