    Monitoring same IP address

    Hi all,

I'd like to know if Zabbix can monitor the same IP address range hosts separately. For your convenience, I'll draw a diagram.

    Zabbix
    Server
    |
    -----------------------------
    | |
    Zabbix Zabbix
    Proxy A Proxy B
    | |
    | |
    Host A Host B
    (192.168.0.1) (192.168.0.1)

Say, Zabbix Proxy A and B are responsible for monitoring their clients' devices respectively. And client host A and B have the same IP address. If this is the case, will Zabbix work without any confusion? Hopefully, I explained the scenario clearly. I would really appreciate if anyone could help me regarding this. Thanks a lot.

    Hello,

As everything is done using the proxy, it won't be a problem.
Except if you are using passive proxy, and those proxy have also the same IP and you are connected through LAN not WAN in this case, I think that Zabbix Server will be confused.
To solve this problem, you can use Active proxy.

    Regards,

      Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I think I didn't draw the diagram thoroughly enough. So, if those proxy servers are in different subnets, there will be no issues regardless of the proxy type. Am I following you? Thanks again.

Well, my diagram looks not right in the original post. I'll attach a file. Thanks.

As long as "Monitored by proxy" setting in host configuration is correct - there should be no problems.
