Tick Item / No Data Trigger

    Zabbix 1.1.4
    Freebsd 4.7, 4.8, 5.4

I am having trouble getting data returned for "tick" item. I have followed the instructions on the Trigger page:

    Use of function nodata():

    {zabbix.zabbix.com:tick.nodata(180)}=1

‘tick’ must have type ‘ZABBIX trapper’’. In order to make this trigger work, item ‘tick’ must be defined. The host should periodically send data for this parameter using zabbix_sender. If no data is received within 180 seconds, the trigger value becomes TRUE.

I have not found any other mention of said Item. Any assistance is appreciated.

    still having trouble

Still having troubles getting TICK item to function. Here is my config:

    Description: Tick
    Type: Zabbix Trapper
    key: tick
Type of Information: Character (have tried all types)
    Show Value: As Is

Item Appears Active but does not produce any data. I do not see any reference to this item in the documention

    http://www.zabbix.com/manual/v1.1/config_items.php

I have been unsuccessful doing a man -- tick on both a FreeBSD and Linux box. Also not finding any help on Google.

Any help is greatly appreciated. If a zabbix agent goes down, no data comes in and triggers do not function, alerts do not go out. This is a very bad thing.

      work around

Well since I am a Tick NOOOOB, i did a workaround.

      {zabbix.zabbix.com:version[zabbix_agent].nodata(240)}=1

      Tested and works.

        Hello,

how did you defined "version[zabbix_agent]" ? Is this a UserParameter oder an Item? Could you explain this?

        Thanks a lot

          Hi,

watch the items of host "Host.Unix". There you can find this item.
