    ERROR:Login name or password is incorrect

    Hi Guys,

    I have gone back to Zabbix 1.1.6. I have reloaded all the schema files on the database and etc. Now when I go to the Index.php file I get the above error. Any ideas?

    Secondly the manual for this version always maintains that there is a setup.php or instal.php with this version but I don't see it. Help will be great.

    Regards,

    Rajen

    the defualt is no password.
    I think setup.php and install.php are for 1.3* series. I don't clear about this.

      Yes, both setup.php and install.php are for 1.3.x only.

        Error remains

        So how do I get rid of this error? This is the default I get with starting the index.php. I type in Admin but it stays on the same page with that error. any ideas

          Greetings,

          Right off the bat, there are two possibilities that I can think of;
          1. You didn't load the 1.1.6 data.sql file. The data.sql file contains the Admin and guest user, both with a blank password. Please note that Admin is with a capital A.
          2. You didn't update db.inc.php. This is the file that the UI uses to determine how to connect to the DB. By default it is configured to connect to MySQL, on the localhost with the user root, no password, and use the database zabbix.

            Still the same issue

            Hi James,

            I modified the db_inc.php file and installed the data.sql file by doing

            cat mysql | mysql -u zabbix -p ****** zabbix;

            as described in the manual. I restarted the server and ensured mysql was running in the background. I still get the error. Any ideas?

            Regards,

                  Cookies

                  I use Firefox and the cookies are enabled. The same thing happens in internet explorer as well. I have tested the connection to the MySQL database and that seems to connect fine. Any other ideas?

                  Thanks Alexei

                    Hey Alexie,

                    My problem is still the same. Any hints or clues as to what this might be?

                      Problem Solved!!!

                      This is how to solve the problem.

                      * Installed PHPmyAdmin
                      * Ran all the configuration business
                      * I got error straight away which said:

                      ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'rajen'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

                      * This is not apparent when doing this under alternative credentials such as zabbix.

                      e.g. mysql -u zabbix -p ***** (You will even find that doing mysqlshow zabbix will reveal the database and show everything).

                      * So I corrected error by typing in

                      GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON zabbix.* TO rajen@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'password'

                      * Went through the whole zabbix db loading process again:

                      cat schema.sql | mysql -u rajen -p password zabbix
                      cat data.sql | mysql -u rajen -p password zabbix
                      cat images.sql | mysql -u rajen -p password zabbix

                      * Remember that the credentials i am using are related to the error shown in PHPmyAdmin.

                      * Modified db.inc.php file to reflect new username and password.

                      * Modified /etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf to reflect new settings. (I am using FreeBSD by the way

                      * Refreshed browser page and Hurrah. Not an error in sight. When I checked back in PHPmyAdmin the users table was correctly populated.

                      I hope this helps anyone having this error.

                      Rajen
