    item rename = history loss?

I need to find out if i rename an item and move it from a global active to being active within a group will i lose all of my historical and trend data that is already associated with it. It will use the same name and same key i just am unsure if it will still link to the old data.
    thanks in advance.

The history is actually linked to the ItemID, which is unique to each host / item key pair. As such, simply renaming the item name will not remove it, nor will renaming the host, however, altering the item's key or removing the host will.

i changed it and it created a new column in the sql database, the historical data is no longer assoicated with the new item. Is there an easy was to copy the data from old into the new columns?
