zabbix_agentd segfault (64 bit)

I'm having a problem getting the zabbix_agentd working on an x_64 RedHat EL4 server. I am still running Zabbix 1.0; I was able to compile the agent using the advise in this thread (http://www.zabbix.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-80.html). However when I run the executable, it dies with this error:

Mar 26 09:32:17 riepsdb2 kernel: zabbix_agentd[3879]: segfault at 0000000000583790 rip 0000000000402a9f rsp 0000007fbfff5a30 error 4

I also tried compiling the 1.1 and 1.3 agents but I got the same error. Any suggestions?

Maybe your memory is bad?

I'm using 64 bit agents on many linux hosts. Red Hat and Debian. I know a few things segfault in zabbix.. but I can't recall getting an agent to segfault.

zabbix server can be made to segfault
zabbix sender can be made to segfault
zabbix agent ..never seen it segfault.
