    Repeats/Escalation zabbix 1.3.5

Does anyone know if/how to create escalation precedures since the repeats feature was taken out? Is this implemented yet?

This is one feature I am really looking forward to and would like to test out before the next major release.

    Thanks

It is not implemented, yet we are considering inclusion of this functionality into 1.4.

        It's a show-stopper

Well I'm glad to hear this is seriously being considered.

We are impressed with Zabbix. Sadly, without the ability to do either time-based thresholds on any given trigger or the ability to configure escalations, this product cannot be used in my environment.

Which is too bad... cuz it looks great. I have to say, escalation in a monitoring tools is pretty much a base-line expectation these days. It was shocking to find it missing in an otherwise great looking tool.

You could actually manually add or write escalations.

Just use the remote command executions instead of sending messages.

It's not a bad idea. But I am encouraged that word is that escalation is a top priority as I do believe that any serious monitoring system have such an ability built in.

Here's the logic I would like to see applied:

            1. Event triggered.
            2. Msg sent to the first contact.
            3. IF no acknowledgment of the trigger happens after X mins, second contact is alerted. Then, if no acknowledgment after n+X mins, third contact is alerted, etc.
            5. Once an acknowledgment is made, alerts stop going out and stop getting escalated. All contacts notified up to this point are sent a notice that the alert has been acknowledged.

This provides escalation as well as smart notification to all those alerted if/when an acknowledgment is made. You can see the benefit. It means that only those who need to be notified get notified if there is no immediate response, and it also provides notification to all groups notified when someone acknowledges the problem.

That is the other piece I would love to see added as well - acknowledgment notifications sent, so anyone in a contact group is aware someone is responding to a trigger.

So, yes, I could write a remote script to handle the escalation but to do something more along the lines of what I propose above would take a bit more and require the ability to respond not only to triggers but acknowledgments as well.
