    DNS performance monitoring

I've been looking for a way to test the performance of a DNS server response. Not just that it has a response, but how long it takes to respond.

Any ideas? I have found tools on the web that are for win32 that do this, but nothing unix based.

I'd use UserParameter along with this code:

    Code:
    dig sf.net | grep 'Query time' | awk -F" " '{print $4}'
Of course you can queryany NS, like this:

    dig sf.net 1.2.3.4

After this many years there's still no oficial way to monitor DNS (something like net.dns.perf key).

Is there any intention to create a DNS performance key?
