    auto-discovery question

    Hi,

    i have a question about auto discovery...
    I'm using auto-discovery to discover hosts...but i don't understand if (and how) i can use auto-discovery to do something like a snmpwalk on an host....

      Auto Discovery

      You might be able to discover it by looking for an SNMP key. In the tutorial below they test by system.uname via the zabbix agent. Which if you are looking for strictly snmp devices wouldn't work because you can't install an agent on them.

      You should be able to add a host based on a key value that the SNMP host returns. In the tutorial in the link below replace the system.uname with an SNMP value that would signify that the host is "Up". You should also test by the SNMP verison that the device uses instead of the Zabbix agent.

      First define a discovery rule.

      Then set a discovery action condition and operation. Action->Discovery Action (In the drop down menu on the right of the page.) It is in an obscure location.
