limit the number of actions (too many mails received)

Is there a recommended way to limit the number of mails zabbix server sends for a specific action ?

I would suggest tweaking of trigger expressions. Future releases of ZABBIX will support escalations and repeat notifications which could be used to setup advanced escalation conditions.

I don't really see how to manage, for example when checking host status.

• I want to trigger to come TRUE without introducing a big delay

• When in true state, it's better to keep in that state if host is not reachable

As you suggested, I've tried to modify the trigger expression, introducing a reference to itself but I think this will lead to trigger swithing between TRUE & FALSE too often.

({TRIGGER.VALUE}=0&{Linuxtpl:status.min(130)}=2)|( {TRIGGER.VALUE}=1&{Linuxtpl:status.min(1800)}=2)

Anyway, this is not an enormous deal once I have made a mail filter for zabbix mails, just a bit annoying.
