zabbix uses ping or hping

hi all
i just needed to know whether zabbix uses ping or hping to determine status of hosts.Actually i m trying to block icmp for my servers.For that i wud in general be determining the status of hosts thru hping.But the case comes with zabbix.if it uses only ping then there will be problem.Kindly tell and if it doesn't use hping then help if there's anything can be done for the same.

ZABBIX uses fping for ICMP pings, not for checking availability of hosts!

ok that's fine.I just need to know what wud happen or what change i wud have to make in zabbix if i block icmp packets thru ping.can it use hping and if yes then where i do have to make changes.Kindly help.
