I also cannot find the oid for monitoring ink levels for RICOH AFICIO. CL. 3000e,any soul know about the OID for this printer for monitor ink level ?
Only managed to find out the OID for printer status 'offline' and 'out of paper'
Thanks for any help!
How do you even go about trying to monitor a printer? It's not like you can install an agent on one. That would be pretty useful to be able to monitor the ink/toner level, though.
So how exactly does one go about monitoring a printer using SNMP? I didn't find any real answer when I looked, I just found posts of people asking how to do it. If someone could inform all of us that don't know how to do this, that would be awesome.
Alright, I figured out how to add the printer. I created a new host and linked it to a SNMP v2 template. There are a bunch of items that show up, but I don't see anything that looks like it has anything to do with toner or paper levels.
I also ran the command "snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 192.168.1.150" which generated a bunch of SNMP information, but I don't know if this is where I can find the info I need and I also don't know how to tell Zabbix what info from here it needs to monitor the toner and paper. Any suggestions?
edit:
Looks like a lot of people have a hard time monitoring printers via SNMP. Heres the MIBs that I use:
RFC1155
RFC1213 (MIB-II)
RFC1514(HOST-RESOURCES)
RFC1759(Printer)
Printer Specific MIB
For the printer specific MIBs, see the links above. To find others (Ricoh, Zebra, etc.) you will have to search around. The very worst case scenario is to check www.mibdepot.com.
I use iReasoning MIB Browser to do the walks. After that, you will just have to see what you are trying to do. Here are some common ones: Printer status: hrDeviceStatus.[index] (5=error, 4=testing, 3=warning, forget others) (check hrDeviceDescr.[index] to figure out what your looking at) Memory Usage: hrStorageSize.[index], hrStorageUsed.[index] Consumable Usage: Varies depending on vendor. Typically, you can find everything under prtMarkerSuppliesDescription, prtMarkerSuppliesMaxCapacity, prtMarkerSuppliesLevel. Many of the model-specific mibs will include different ways to get consumable usages. For example, some HP mibs have the following tree: Model-Specific-MIB -> destination-subsystem -> print-engine -> consumables. HP stores most of their values in HEX. (I started a post a few minutes ago to find out how to convert HEX -> ASCII with zabbix). Serial Number/Firmware: Typically, I just walk the whole SNMP stack and do a find for what I'm looking for. Firmware is tricky for HP since, again, they store it as Hex.
Hope this helps,
- DF
