    Some questions about zabbix

    Hi,

I have to deploy a monitoring system at work and I am evaluating Zabbix now. It seems a pretty mature software.

In our deployment we have a central server, from now called superserver. This superserver is connected to some servers over internet. Until now it can be a simple monitoring deployment, but we also want to monitor the nodes that are in the same private network as these servers (a Distributed configuration). The problem is that those network addresses are all the same and we don't have the control of them, we can't change this address.
Does zabbix support nodes with the same ip address?

Not even if I use NodeID in a distributed setup?
Do you know any method to bypass this limitation? Although it is external method..
I've thought in making vpns and reassign ip but I think it's not a good solution.

Nobody has to monitor a deployment like mine?

You might be able to utilize a TUN type interface and communicate intra-node via the TUN interface -- That is: If you mean the specific Monitoring Nodes (zabbix remote nodes), you should be able to assign an addr that is unique via TUN interface.

((If you mean the monitored systems (end systems) with similar IPs I am unsure if the servers are defined enough to handle the hostID of the given monitored system since the hostID is specific (ie 2000000000124) to the distributed monitoring node.))

While i know this is kinda a dirty hack, it might work.

The distributed monitoring has to be enhanced to support communications activated only by remote nodes in the future.
