I have downloaded the precompiled package for mysql what next??

    I have downloaded the precompiled package for mysql what next??

    Hi guys...i m doin a project for my school. right now i have downloaded the precompiled package tat is said for mysql database. then what to do next??i have gunzip and tar the package out...and it become a folder call bin...so what i do now??does the package come together with mysql or do i have to download it myself??if i have to download it where can i download?i have been to mysql website but donno which to down load...can i use apt-get to install mysql??I really n ee help from the scratch...help me plz...

    You will need to install mysql and php, they are not included in the zabbix download.

    What distribution of linux are you using? I would highly suggest you use one that has written instructions in the Zabbix wiki since it seems your are quite new to linux.

    IMHO for a newbie CentOS is a great place to start and the instructions on the wiki should be all that you need to get Zabbix setup (including installing mysql and php). In reality you can choose any distribution you want, everyone has there favorite and most are very good.

      erm...i m using ubuntu...so u r saying that mysql and php are not included in the precompile zabbix download?


      actually i have alrdy tar the package which turns out to b a bin file...so i cd into the folder and there are these files,

      zabbix_agent
      zabbix_agentd
      zabbix_get
      zabbix_sender
      zabbix_server

      so what do i do?
