    distributed monitoring

    Guys,
Question/concern... This may not be easily answered, but I guess I will try...

Currently, we have several nagios installations and monitor them independently.

Lets say there are 2 networks in question... 172.17.0.0 and 172.17.1.0... Both of these class B networks are full of hosts, and there are certain firewall policies in place, which prohibit certain access. These policies make it be easier, if you could have a zabbix server in each network, running independent checks, and have it report back to a single mysql instance.

In essence, have Z1 in 172.17.0.50 and Z2 in 172.17.1.54 and Z3 in 172.17.2.43. All 3 of these boxes will have their mysql database in M1 172.17.4.4 and php riding elsewhere...

Is this possible? Or do we need to stick with one installation, and punch firewall holes for each network check?

    Best Regards,

    Vasiliy

Guys, well, after going through the documentation, I have found distributed monitoring, which is great.

One question however, the documentation states that you configure zabbix nodes via Administrator->Nodes... which is not in my interface...

How do I administer zabbix nodes in 1.4.1?

      THANKS!

When you run "zabbix_server -n 1" (and so forth), the node options will appear.

          Excellent, thank you very much.

So if the node_id used to be 0, and I run the update command, that should be OK, yes? One can feasibly upgrade their mysql database from a stand-alone zabbix implementation, to a tiered service, yes?

          Thanks Again,
          Vasiliy

NodeID does not match configuration settings. Processing of the node is disabled.

How can I fix this guys... i get some errors when trying to update the tables as well.....

Converting tables ...................../zabbix_server [2831]: Error: Query failed: [update events set eventid=eventid+100000000000000 where eventid>0
            ] Duplicate entry '100000000000002' for key 1 [1062]

So, guys, without reinstalling, what is the proper way to bring these guys back to normal.

What should I set the NodeIDs in the config files, which tables should i empty, and in which order.

              THANKS!

as a side note... I am setting up distributed monitoring properly... i only have one mysql database, not a database for each zabbix box.... correct?

                THANKS

This is not correct! Every ZABBIX node must have its own database in a distributed setup.
