Autodiscovery name issue

Hello

after auto discovery all my hosts are added properly and linked properly to my template, but they are all shown as IP addresses, how can I make then show as their DNS names ?

This would be useful so I do not have to go back and edit 5000 auto discovered Cisco Switches.

Any ideas how to do this?

For this purpose, I wrote a script in Python. But it is at work.

It would have been nice if the developers added resolving in Discovery.

I can make a "fix" for 1.4.2 which would work the following way:

1. If a host has DNS name, host name will be set to the DNS name.
2. If DNS name cannot be resolved, host name will be set to the IP address.

Host will be monitored by IP address in both cases.

In discovery zabbix agent bassed, it would be very interesting to be able choose the key would give name to host, similar to zabbix agent key when creating discovery rules.

I am currently at 1000 devices and still adding

Estimated end goal is 7-10.000 devices it will be interesting to see how we can make this scale.

I did it for pre 1.4.2. Now it does DNS lookup and updates DNS name. DNS name is used as a host name on host creation as well.
