    Unreliable simple checks?

    Zabbix 1.0 on CentOS 3.3.

I'm getting back into the zabbix world after some time off, and need to demo the software's functionality to my new supervisors.

I set up some simple checks on various hosts (http, ssh etc.), and they have not been reliable. For example, http showed 1 even though the server was down. I'm also getting 1's on SSH from windows servers.

is there somewhere/something I should be aware of to validate these simple checks?

    Thanks

    John Lewis.

Are you able to use the agent? If so, what does that deliver for values?
