    Zabbix autodiscovery of hostname

    Hello all,

I've been playing around with Zabbix 1.4.1 and I must say I'm impressed by the new features of the 1.4 branch. (can't wait to see 1.6 )

I have a question on Autodiscovery though.
We can read the system.hostname key from the agent which reports back the systems hostname.

Is there a way to use this key as the hostname when it is added to Zabbix?

Also, is there a way that the IP can automatically be resolved to DNS name in the hosts properties during auto discovery?

    Thanks in advance,
    With kind regards,

    Raymond

Just scrolled through the 1.4.2 release notes:
    • added automatic resolution of DNS names for auto-discovery

    That answers question number two
Does this also apply to the hostname?
    With kind regards,

    Raymond

Yes, it does. The hostname will be automatically substituted by DNS name if host IP can be resolved.

        That's great!
        I'll start testing 1.4.2 soon.

        Keep up the good work
