    simple check giving incorrect status

    Hi
    I have set up a test simple check ssh,192.168.2.77,22 to check that a machine it up using the ssh port on it .. but it does not reflect true values .. when I shut the machine down, it showed down for a bit then when back to showing that the device was available , even though it's swiched off .. what could be wrong ?
    using zabbix 1.4.2 .

    this are the results of the log file .. which contradicts the manual by my understanding .
