    Barracuda and Allot devices

    Hallo all

    Busy evaluating different solutions, amongst them zabbix.
    Just want to know is there anyone here that monitors the barracuda spam firewall and the Allot packet shaper with zabbix?

    Thanx all

    Hello,

    Yes, I am monitoring a Barracuda box... :O)

    That is not a easy task, as barracuda allmost has none snmp items
    to monitor..

    Well not many of the exiting ones anyway like CPU Temp etc...
    Only queues så you can check that tyhe mail flow actually works... :O)

    Kind regards
    Gert

      Is there any chance to get a XML Template for monitoring Barracuda solutions?

          barracuda

          That's odd!
          On my cacti install I monitor mailqueque's, cpu usage, load average and memory usage.

          My biggest problem is the discovery.
          snmpwalk -v 1 -c public 192.168.69.25 works from command line.

          checking the inbound queue also works
          ~$ snmpwalk -v 1 -c public 192.168.69.25 .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.8.1.101.1
          UCD-SNMP-MIB::extOutput.1 = STRING: 1
          $ snmpwalk -v 1 -c public 192.168.69.25 UCD-SNMP-MIB::extOutput.1
          UCD-SNMP-MIB::extOutput.1 = STRING: 1

          But in my logs I get the following.
          23748:20070829:153125 Timeout while connecting to [192.168.69.25:161]

          All from the same box

            Template

            Gert

            How's that template coming?
            How do you start to make your own template? Do you do it from the web interface or do you make it in config files?

            I have a couple of devices to contribute templates for if I can just get the correct info into the system.

              Hi,

              templates are easy to handle (creation and import) and most of it work fine.

              Here's how you do it:

              Just create a template for your normal equipment, say "T_NetAppFiler"
              via the Web (Configuration).
              If it has been tested and is complete, just go to the "Export/Import"
              under "Configuration" and select this template for export.
              You'll get a file which you save locally and send it to me
              or, even better, upload it into a post in this forum.

              That's it.

              Regards and thanks in advance for your future templates

              Norbert.

                Templates

                Okay

                Now call me a n00b, stupid or whatever you want, but what do I click on to create the template?
                My logic tells me it is items?
                But allas not.
                I have gone through every option under configuration and nowhere does it say templates.
                Have I not read the doc's properly?

                I just know I am going to feel stupid when you tell me
                A little step-by-step would be nice.

                  Hello mozzi,

                  Yes it is not the easiest to find... :O)

                  Click on Configuration-> Hosts
                  change the dropdown menu in the upper right corner to templates,
                  now you can create a template.

                  Hope it helps..

                  Kins regards
                  Gert

                      OID and keys

                      Okay

                      I am this far and now I am stuck!
                      Created my template in hosts(thanx Gert!) now I am trying to add an item.
                      snmpwalk tells me the OID is:SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: NET-SNMP-MIB::netSnmpAgentOIDs.10

                      Correct?

                      I created the item and used snmpv2 agent
                      The rest are basics, but what do I use for key?
                      I just don't understand that bit, anyone care to explain?

                        You have to create a trigger.

                        i.e your trigger can say if your cpu load is too high.

                        Kind regards
